About CACC

The Collinsville Area Camera Club is an organization for beginners and advanced photographers to share ideas and have fun learning about photography. The club offers photography classes and instructional programs as well as trips to local areas of interest. Located just 14 miles from downtown St. Louis, the club meets once a month in Collinsville, IL.

Founded in 1977, the club was formed by a group of 15 photography students from Belleville Area College (now Southwestern Illinois College). Towards the end of the semester, the group decided to form a camera club and continue meeting as a group. The members prepared a notice and sent it to anyone they knew who had a camera. The Collinsville Herald published notice of the new club and by the second meeting, the club had 26 members. After holding a photography exhibit at St. Clair Square, the club grew to 54 members.  Currently, we have over 65 club members.

Our members come from different backgrounds yet share a common interest in photography. Interested in joining? Come to a meeting and check us out. Visitors are always welcome! Dues are $25 per year and the club is affiliated with the Photographic Society of America (PSA).

Unless otherwise noted, all meetings start at 7:00 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the Collinsville Area Parks and Recreation District’s Activity Center, 10 Gateway Drive, Collinsville, IL 62234. After meetings, feel free to join us at Culver’s in Collinsville for an after meeting treat and fun photography discussion.
